Treehouse Experience – Edenland

EN: We wanted to accommodate in a tree house so much (especially since we have Alexei) that we started our research about such houses in Romania ever since we were in The Netherlands πŸ™‚ We have a whole list of different tree houses, beautiful and tempting but for now, because we were not able to go too far from Bucharest, we have chosen to try the ones closest to the house πŸ™‚ And those are the treehouses from Edenland Park, which until recently, we didn’t know they were available for rent. For quite a long time I had the impression that they are part of… the scenery of the park, and never actually thought that we can choose to stay overnight in one of them. So it was a very pleasant surprise for Alexei to have two surprises on the same day: the park itself (with a wonderful playground for children, even for the little ones) and the experience of sleeping in a tree house. By the way, both of these experiences made us very happy as well πŸ™‚

EN: We have chosen a day during the week, knowing that during the weekend the park is extremely busy (actually we didn’t find availability for any weekend in none of the tree houses) and because we were two couples, each of us with a young child, the only option to stay in the same house was the tree house called Soimu’. There aren’t many houses in the park (actually there are only five) but they are all extremely cute and each of them has a unique design: Melcu’, Ariciu’, Closca cu Pui, Casuta din Povesti and Soimu’, these are the names of each tree house. Some of them are smaller, some of them are larger, some have two floors, a platform or a bridge and one of them is not actually a tree house as it stands on the ground. For us, Soimu’ was the perfect one as we wanted to stay all together in the evening, on the terrace of the house. And even though we expected a very rustic experience, both rooms from the tree house were very comfortable (both of them had toilet, the room from the first floor even had a shower, big double beds that had enough place to sleep all three of us and mini fridges). What is less comfortable for parents (which we actually sent as feedback after we stayed there, hoping that they will find a better solution for this issue) is the fact that we had to walk to the tree house, with our luggage, even though in the park there are some small electric cars (used by the staff of the park) which could be used by the guests that are staying in the tree houses. For only one night of accommodation we shouldn’t have too much luggage (at least in theory :D) but when we travel with a young child, we just gather too much stuff (clothing, food, drinks, stroller etc). And it’s quite a lot to walk through the forest to get to any of the tree houses.

Later edit: it seems that the electric cars can be used by those who stay overnight in the treehouses, but we didn’t know this πŸ™‚ We just had to ask for them at the reception πŸ™‚

EN: After sunset (especially after closing the park) and early in the morning, the atmosphere is absolutely wonderful. There is no one on the alleys, the restaurants and the terraces are closed we could only hear the animals and birds in the park. It is perfectly quiet and it really looks like you’re in the middle of nowhere (and in a way you really are). We caught a chilly day so it was even more pleasant than we expected πŸ™‚ And in the evening, when the lights of each house turn on, it looks like an image taken from Alexei’s bedtime stories. We were a little stressed by the mosquitoes (there were quite a few but we were very careful and it wasn’t as bad as we expected) and especially by the ticks, but fortunately we didn’t have any problems (I tried to dress Alexei with thin clothes, but as covering as possible).

EN: There is no kitchen to prepare food in the tree houses, but inside the park there are restaurants and terraces where we could order food. The only problem is that the restaurant (called La Muma Padurii) opens at 10 in the morning and the other houses with snacks and other food (pies, pancakes, burgers, ice cream) open after 12. So for those who come with children and stay overnight it would be a good idea to have food supplies for the little ones πŸ™‚ We did not have enough food, but fortunately we could order breakfast (omelette) at the restaurant. Those who only visit the park and do not stay overnight can’t order from the breakfast menu. In fact, those who only visit the park are not allowed access with drinks and / or food, not even for children (a 0.5l bottle is allowed for each child), which can be quite annoying, especially since there are not too many healthy food options for children. There is pizza, pasta, french fries, ice cream, pancakes and pies, but it would be very useful to have more suitable options for young children.

EN: The children playground as well as all other activities in the park are absolutely gorgeous. We could have spent an entire day just at the playground, playing at the slides or at the swings, that’s how much Alexei loved this place and wanted to try all of the attractions. There is also an art center for the little ones, where we could buy ceramic figurines and paint them in the open air workshop. We also tried this activity and even though Alexei is usually very attracted to painting this time he was so stimulated by all the great things he was seeing around that he couldn’t concentrate for more than 10 minutes in this activity. So we spent our time through slides, looking at older children having fun on the zip lines on the tree trails (the easiest route for children is allowed for children over 4 years, so we have something until Alexei can try them), ran among the animals and rode the adult bike. It’s just great that they also have child seats for bicycles, so we were able to walk him through the whole park and he loved it (daddy walked him, because I do not know how to ride a bike: D).

Cat despre casutele in copac, data viitoare am vrea sa stam in Casuta din Povesti, chiar daca nu este in copac πŸ™‚ Arata minunat, romantica si draguta, ascunsa in padurea deasa. Am reusim sa ii facem niste poze dimineata devreme, cand inca era totul umbrit si ne-a placut enorm de mult πŸ™‚

EN: Honestly, we think this is a wonderful place, the forest is fabulous and during the week it is not busy at all (we have never been on the weekend but we know from other parents that it is way too crowded). And they have all kinds of fun activities for kids, it’s just impossible to get bored, there are things to do for any age. The park is very well maintained, there are signs everywhere that require keeping your distance and wearing a mask. Unfortunately, no one wore a mask, not even the staff from the restaurant or the employees from the rental offices. However, being outdoors, we did not feel in danger, but we would have liked to see that these rules are followed. Other than that, we only have words of praise about this place and we are glad that it is so close to Bucharest that we can come whenever we want. As for the tree houses, next time we would like to stay in the house called Casuta din Povesti, even if it is not in a proper tree house πŸ™‚ It looks wonderful, romantic and pretty, hidden in the dense forest. We managed to take some pictures early in the morning, when everything was still shady and we really liked it πŸ™‚
