RO: Coșmarul oricărei proaspete mămici este clar sezonul rece și veșnica grijă legată de cât de gros să îmbraci bebelușul atunci când este frig afară. Și parcă niciodată alegerea făcută nu e cea potrivită, ba este prea înfofolit copilul (cu n straturi de haine, căciuli și tot arsenalul), ba dârdâie de frig. Și adevărul e în ultima vreme mai toate discuțiile cu prietenele mămici se învârt în jurul acestui subiect. Și de parcă am redescoperit roata (we actually did, pentru că nu aveam habar că există soluții miraculoase care să ne scoată din impas), am aflat cât de benefică este lâna și cât de grozavă poate fi pe timp de iarnă. Și nu, contrar părerii inițiale, cum că hainele de lână ar fi teposeniile acelea de le vedeam pe la bunici și pe care nu le puteam suporta câtuși de puțin pe piele, hăinuțele pe care le-am descoperit la Hip Hip s sunt absolut geniale, plăcute la atingere și foarte ușor de purtat. Singurele două inconveniente pe care le găsim la hainele de lână ar fi în primul rând prețul (în mod cert sunt mult mai scumpe decât hainele normale de iarnă) și îngrijirea specială pe care o necesită acestea (nu-i rocket science, dar poate fi un pic mai dificil la început). Dar să începem cu începutul și să vorbim despre cele câteva branduri pe care le-am încercat noi. Bineînțeles, sunt multe altele, însă pe măsură ce le vom descoperi și testa, vom actualiza acest articol. Apropo, secțiunea de  blog a celor de la Hip Hip e minunată, plină de articole interesante și foarte utile (despre lână și nu numai).

EN: The cold season and the eternal worry about how should the baby be dressed when is cold outside is definitely any new mother’s nightmare. And there’s seems to be no good option, either the baby is overdressed (with too many layers of clothes and hats and others), either he shivers with cold. And the truth is that lately, all the discussions with the mommy friends are based on this subject. As if we would have reinvented the wheel (we actually did, as we had no idea that there some miraculous solutions to get us out of this trouble), we found out how great the wool can be during winter time. And nope, against what we initially thought about wool clothes (that they are wiry and rough and hard to wear them on the skin), the clothes we’ve found at Hip Hip are just genius, soft to the touch and easy to wear. The only two downsides when it comes to wool clothes are the price (definitely more expensive than normal winter clothes) and the special care they need (no rocket science, but it can be a bit difficult at the beginning). But let’s start with the beginning and let’s talk about some of the brands that we’ve tried so far. Of course, there are a lot of others, but as we will discover them and try them, we will update this article. By the way, the blog section from Hip Hip is just lovely, full of interesting and useful articles (about wool and other subjects).

RO: Înainte de a descrie fiecare brand încercat, începem ca la școală, cu o mică teorie. Sunt câteva principii de bază legate de modul cel mai bun de a îmbrăca bebelușii iarna, iar articolul acesta de pe blogul celor de la Hip Hip este cum nu se poate mai bine explicat și detaliat. Ca să rezumăm cât mai succint, ideea este să existe un prim strat de hăinuțe, direct pe piele, care să absoarbă transpirația și să regleze temperatura corpului. Apoi un strat intermediar, de regulă un overall pufos, și pentru cazurile speciale, un al treilea strat de protecție în caz de vânt/ploaie. Noi am testat până acum overall-urile de lână de la Hip Hip (Cosilana, Mikk-line și Disana) și un prim strat cumpărat din Olanda, de la magazinul Mamanova. Cei de la Hip Hip au o mulțime de variante de bluze, pantaloni si body-uri de la Joha și Cosilana, care pot fi folosite ca prim strat.

EN: Before describing each of the brands we’ve tried, we’ll start with a bit of theory. There are a few basic rules regarding the best way to dress the babies during winter time and this article from Hip Hip blog is extremely well explained and detailed. Long story short, we should have a first layer, directly on the skin, to absorb the sweat and adjust the body temperature. Then, an intermediate layer, usually a fluffy overall, and for the special cases, a third layer of protection in case of wind or rain. So far we’ve tested the wool overalls from Hip Hip (Cosilana, Mikk-line and Disana) and a first layer bought from The Netherlands, from Mamanova store. At Hip Hip there is a large variety of blouses, trousers and bodies from Joha and Cosilana, that can be used as first layers.

DISANA

RO: Și acum să le luăm pe rând. Dintre toate cele trei branduri de la Hip Hip, dragoste la prima vedere a fost overall-ul Disana. Pe lângă faptul că sunt o mulțime de culori drăguțe, ceea ce e mai rar întâlnit la hăinuțele de lână, lâna fiartă este o invenție fantastică (o mulțime de informații interesante despre lâna fiartă am găsit aici). Nu doar că ține cald, însă este și rezistentă la vânt, deci cumva ar fi un 2 în 1 dacă ar fi să ne ghidăm după ghidul de layering al celor de la Hip Hip (poate fi considerat atât strat intermediar, cât și extern). Este poate un pic mai aspru materialul la atingere (în comparație cu lâna fleece spre exemplu), însă în zonele care intră în contact cu pielea bebelușului, overall-ul este dublat cu bumbac organic fîn (la glugă). Cu alte cuvinte, pufoșenie all the way 🙂 A, și un lucru extrem de important e faptul că deși e foarte călduroasă, stratul în sine este foarte subțire (spre deosebire de overall-urile din magazinele de lanț, pufoase și foarte mari), ceea ce poate fi foarte util spre exemplu în scaunul de mașină.

EN: And now we’ll take them one by one. From all three brands from Hip Hip, Disana overall was love at first sight. Besides the fact that there are a lot of cute colors, which is not often seen at wool clothes, boiled wool is a fantastic invention (lots of interesting information about boiled wool can be found here). Not only that it keeps the baby warm, but it is also wind resistant, so it’s a kind of 2 in 1 if we consider the layering guide from Hip Hip (it can be an intermediate layer, as well as external layer). The fabric is a bit rough at touch (compared to fleece wool for instance), but it has some organic cotton layer where the overall touches the skin (at the hood). In other words, fluffiness all the way J Ah, an extremely important thing is the fact that even though is so warm, the layer of fabric is thin (unlike the overalls from the chain stores, too fluffy and quite big), which can be very useful for instance in the car seat. 


RO: Overall-ul ales de noi este  acesta, culoarea curry (în realitate e chiar mai frumoasă culoarea!), și pentru că nu am fost suficient de atenți să observăm că are și botoșei și mănuși integrate (se îndoaie cumva în exterior, ca să acopere și mâinile și picioarele), am comandat și botoseii în aceeași culoare. Adorabili de altfel, însă nu neapărat necesari. Există tot felul de accesorii din același material și culori, cum ar fi căciula sau mănușile, însă overall-ul în sine e un fel de toate într-unul, chiar nu e nevoie de niciun alt accesoriu. Si lăsând la o parte toate aceste beneficii, ce e cu adevărat genial în ceea ce privește lâna fiartă este faptul că nu trebuie spălată! Da, lâna nu necesită spălare, e suficientă o simplă scuturare pentru a curăța murdăria. Minunea e posibilă datorită unui strat de lanolină care îmbracă fibra de lâna și previne murdăria. Dar deși este produsul preferat dintre cele trei branduri, inconvenientul major este că e cea mai scumpă marcă. Legat de dimensiune, am ales 62/68 când Alexei avea cam 67cm lungime și 4 luni (îi era însă un pic mare, ceea ce e foarte ok, în speranța că poate o va purta întregul sezon și poate chiar și la primăvară).

EN: The overall that we have chosen is this one, in curry (in reality the color is even nicer!) and just because we haven’t been careful enough to see that it has socks and gloves included, we ordered the socks in the same color. Which are actually very cute, but not quite necessary. There are all kind of accessories from the same fabric and colors, like the hat or the gloves, but the overall itself has them all, so there’s actually no need to buy any other accessory. And besides all these advantages, what is truly genius about boiled wool is the fact that it does not need washing! Yup, wool does not require washing, it is enough to just shake it a bit to clean the spots. This is possible thanks to a lanolin layer that comes above the wool fiber and prevents the muddiness. But, even though this is our favourite product from the three brands, the major inconvenient is the fact that it is the most expensive one. Regarding the size, we have chosen 62/68 when Alexei was about 67 cm length and 4 months (it was a bit big, which is ok, hoping that he will be able to wear it the entire season and maybe during spring time as well).

COSILANA 

RO: A doua în ordinea preferințelor ar fi overall-ul din polar de lână merinos Cosilana, un brand nemțesc foarte renumit. Ce-i drept, nu pare deloc tentant în poze modelul ales de noi (acesta), însă în realitate este absolut grozav, arată foarte bine îmbrăcat pe bebeluș, iar nasturii aceia de lemn sunt absolut adorabili. Există același model însă cu botoșei și mănuși integrate (acesta), însă l-am preferat pe cel cu elastic la mâini și picioare, ca să izoleze cât mai bine. În plus, fiind un pic mare, partea elastică poate fi îndoită ca să se potrivească și măsurilor mai mici. Ca dimensiune, am ales tot 62/68, din același motiv, ca să îl poată purta cât mai multă vreme. Ce este foarte plăcut la lâna fleece (sau polar) este faptul că e mai pufoasă și mai plăcută la atingere decât cea fiartă (mai țepoasă puțin). Nu este însă la fel de bună împotriva vântului cum este lâna fiartă, însă ține foarte bine de cald și e genială de purtat toamna. Totuși dacă la iarnă vor fi temperaturi foarte mici, o vom folosi doar ca strat intermediar, nu extern, parcă nu e suficientă pentru friguri extreme. Nu am spălat-o înainte de folosire (deși poate că ar fi trebuit) și nu s-a scămoșat deloc, materialul chiar este foarte plăcut. În plus față de overall am luat și botoseii din același material, sunt perfecți, pur și simplu perfecți 🙂 Lâna fleece trebuie spălată (nu este la fel de cool ca lâna fiartă :P), preferabil cu detergent special pentru lână și spălată manual (am găsit aici detergenți speciali pentru lână). Un overall extrem de asemănător (culoare și material) am găsit și la Engel, însă nu l-am încercat încă.

EN: The second one that we loved the most was the fleece merinos wool overall from Cosilana, a well-known German brand. To be honest, the model that we have chosen (this one) is not tempting at all, but in reality is absolutely fabulous, it looks great on the baby and those wooden buttons are simply adorable. There is a similar model that has both socks and gloves included (this one), but we preferred the classic one with elastic at hands and feet, for a better isolation. Besides, being a bit larger for Alexei, the elastic part can be folded so that it can be suitable for smaller sizes as well. Regarding the size, we have also chosen 62/68, for the same reason – so that we can use it as much as possible. What is really nice about fleece wool is the fact that is softer at touch and fluffier than the boiled wool (a bit more rough). However, it’s not so great against the wind as the boiled wool is, but it keeps him warm and it’s great for autumn. But if during winter time the temperatures are really low, we will only use it as intermediate layer, not external, it just doesn’t seem enough when it’s really cold outside. We haven’t washed it before usage (although maybe we should have done this) but it did not shed fiber at all, the fabric is really nice. Besides the overall we have also bought the socks from the same fabric, they are perfect, simply perfect 🙂 Fleece wool requires washing (not as cool as boiled wool :P), preferably with a special detergent for wool and washed manually (we found here some special detergents for wool). We have found an extremely similar overall (both fabric and color) at Engel, but haven’t tried it yet.

MIKK-LINE

RO: Am lăsat Mikk-line pe ultimul loc în topul preferințelor, deși suntem extrem de subiectivi. Ce este foarte enervant la această lână (tot de tip fleece) este faptul că e extrem, dar extrem de scămoșabilă. Ce-i drept, producătorul recomandă spălarea înainte de folosire, și a fost greșeala noastră ca am ignorat cu desăvârșire această recomandare. Se pare că dacă ar fi fost spălată înainte (conform instrucțiunilor speciale, spălată manual, prin înmuiere și apăsare, nicidecum prin frecare pentru că se scămoșează și mai rău, la 30 de grade, fără stoarcere, pusă la uscat în plan orizontal, nu atârnata). Erau însă cam prea multe detalii și “pretenții” pentru această lână, iar niște oameni extrem de comozi ca noi nu au apreciat-o la adevărata sa valoare 😀 Modelul ales a fost acesta, pe bej, cu botoșei și mănuși incluse. Este poate că cea mai pufoasă lână dintre toate cele trei modele, foarte plăcută la atingere. Nu putem trece însă peste scămoșare, deși a fost purtată o singură dată, acum arată destul de urât. Este cu siguranță greșeala noastră, am înțeles de la alte mămici ca după spălare se comportă complet diferit materialul și devine foarte puțin scămoșabil, însă fiind la același preț ca overall-ul Cosilana, noi l-am recomandă pe acela. Ce e totuși foarte util la acest overall este fermoarul, sfântul fermoar! Foarte ușor de îmbrăcat/dezbrăcat (extrem de util pentru un bebeluș ca al nostru, care își pierde foarte ușor răbdarea când vine vorba de nasturi și capse :D). Am comandat dimensiunea 68, însă este suficient de mare cât sa poată fi purtat chiar și anul următor. Există și accesorii în aceleași nuanțe, am luat mănușile  acestea (măsura 62/68) însă momentan nu le poate purta, sunt uriașe 🙂 În orice caz, cum și mănușile și botoșeii sunt incluse, ar fi fost mult mai util să luăm o cagulă (au în aceeași culoare – aici), având în vedere că overall-ul nu are glugă.

EN: We left Mikk-line at the end of our preferences, even though we are extremely subjective. What is truly annoying about this wool (also fleece wool) is the fact that it sheds a lot of fibers. It is true that the producer recommends washing before usage, it was totally our mistake that we completely ignored this recommendation. Seems that if it would have been washed before (according to the special instructions, manual wash through soaking and pressing, not at all by rubbing because it sheds fibers even worse, washing at 30 degrees, without squeezing and dried horizontally, not hanged). There seemed to be a bit too many details and requirements for this type of wool, and some really comfortable people like us did not take it for what it is worth 😀 The model that we have chosen is this one, on beige, with socks and gloves included. It is probably the fluffiest wool from all these three models, really soft at touch. But we can’t go over the fact that it sheds so much fiber, even though it was only worn only one time, it looks quite bad now. For sure it is our mistake, we understood from other friends that after washing the fabric is completely different and doesn’t shed so many fibers, but being at the same price as the Cosilana overall, we would recommend that one. However, what is really useful at this overall is the zipper, long live the zipper! Easy to dress/undress (very useful for a baby like ours, who hates buttons and eyelets :D). We ordered size 68, but it is big enough to fit him next year as well. They also have accessories in the same colors, we have chosen these gloves (size 62/68) but for the moment they cannot be worn, they’re simply huge 🙂 Anyways, as the gloves and socks are included, it would have been better to buy a balaclava wool hat (found one here in the same color) considering the fact that the overall doesn’t have a hood.



RO: Cert e că este o adevărată nebunie cu hăinuțele de lână și pe bună dreptate. Chiar dacă există haine de iarnă mult mai ieftine la magazinele de lanț, merită investit în câteva piese de lână, care să poată fi purtate chiar și mai mult de un sezon. Și ca să rezolvăm și problema hăinuțelor de sub overall-uri (da, ne place să keep it simple :D), ne-am gândit că cea mai convenabilă variantă ar fi să luăm un set de body și colanți din lână și mătase, ca prim strat. Ne-au atras deja atenția body-ul verde și pantalonii de la Cosilana de la Hip Hip, acestea sunt următoarele pe lista noastră de shopping.

EN: One thing is certain, there is a total madness with all the wool clothes and there’s a good reason behind. Even though there are way cheaper winter clothes in the chain stores, it is worth investing in a couple of wool items, that can be worn more than one season. And because we wanted to solve the problem with the clothes underneath the overalls (yup, we like to keep it simple :D), we thought that the most convenient option would be a set of body and leggings from wool and silk, as a first layer. There are lots of options, we’re already thinking about the green body and leggings from Cosilana from Hip Hip, these are the next ones on our shopping list.
