RO: Că suntem mari fani conace și pensiuni tradiționale, am zis-o în repetate rânduri. Însă weekendul acesta am dat de nirvana conacelor din România și-abia așteptăm să povestim vrute și nevrute despre bucățica aceasta desprinsă din Rai și așezată (spre norocul nostru) la doar o aruncătură de băț de Covasna. Castelul de la Zabola (dacă îi folosim numele unguresc, Zăbala pe cel românesc) e o poveste 🙂 O poveste scrisă de familia Mikes, care încă locuiește pe acest domeniu minunat și care a transformat câteva dintre casele de pe proprietatea familiei în case de oaspeți. Hurray! Pentru că fiecare dintre aceste case arată bestial, camerele sunt superbe (în special băile), poarta de la intrare și drumul printre copacii pestriți în mijloc de toamnă e cum nu se poate de dramatic și romantic, iar castelul vechi este pur și simplu senzațional! Unde mai pui că este conectat printr-un tunel subteran de 50 de metri de castelul cel nou, fosta clădire de birouri. Lesne de înțeles că în castelul vechi nu pot sta turiști, aparținând familiei Mikes, care încă locuiește aici, însă cel nou este în renovare momentan și urmează ca până de Revelion să primească oaspeți în 11 camere noi minunate 🙂

EN: We’re quite obsessed with traditional manors and pensions and we’ve said that several times already. But this weekend we found one of the most beautiful manor in Romania and we simply can’t wait to go nineteen to the dozen about this little piece of land taken out of Heaven and placed (lucky for us) just a stone’s throw away from Covasna. Zabola Castle (if we use the Hungarian name or Zabala if we use the Romanian one) is a fairy tale 🙂 A fairy tale written by the Mikes family, that still lives on this wonderful property and they managed to transform some of the houses in guest houses. Hurray! Because each and every single house looks stunning, the rooms are amazing (especially the bathrooms), the gate from the entrance and the path between all those colorful trees during fall are extremely dramatic and romantic, and the old castle is simply amazing! And guess what, it is connected through a 50 meters underground tunnel by the new castle, the old offices building. Obviously, the old castle cannot be rented by tourists, as it belongs to the Mikes family, who still lives here, but the new one is under renovation at the moment and until the New Year’s Eve will be ready to receive guests in 11 new wonderful rooms 🙂  











RO: Însă pe lângă cazările fabuloase (așa-i c-am zis deja de băile fabuloase și de căzile vintage) noi am zice că punctul forte al Castelului Mikes este întregul domeniu! Pajiștea uriașă, alea străjuită de copaci vechi de când lumea și pământul, lacurile, căprioarele, saunaaaaaa și jacuzzi-ul ascunse în pădure! Noi am fost un grup de șase prieteni și am ales să stăm în The Old Saddlehouse, căsuța de la intrarea în domeniu, un apartament uriaș cu patru camere și o sufragerie bestială cu șemineu, și The Machine House, camera The Beam (cea cu baia superbă :D).

EN: But besides the gorgeous rooms (have we already mentioned about the fabulous bathrooms and those vintage bathtubs?:D), we would say that Mikes Castle’s strength is the entire property! The huge meadow, the path with its old trees by its side, the lake, the deer, the saunaaaaa and the jacuzzi hidden in the forest! We’ve been a group of six friends and we have chosen to stay in The Old Saddlehouse, the house from the entrance, a huge apartment with four rooms and a gorgeous living room with a fireplace, and The Machine House, The Beam room (the one with the stunning bathroom :D). 








RO: Iar dacă ziua pare de-a dreptul minunat, ei bine seara, când se aprind felinarele din pădure și cele de pe aleea străjuită de arborii vechi, totul e desprins din altă lume! Iar serile în fața șemineului, cu un pahar de vin roșu (vin luat din mini bar-ul din podelele de lemn din cameră :D) sunt demne de viața de conte transilvănean 🙂 Și da, recunoaștem. Castelul Zabola e poate că una dintre cele mai frumoase cazări tradiționale din România. Nu doar casele și camerele sunt minunate, ci întregul domeniu, întreaga atmosferă de poveste, oamenii primitori, mâncarea senzațional de bună, micul dejun, toate activitățile puse la dispoziția turiștilor ori plimbările pe bicicletă. Ne bucură nespus să vedem conace vechi, tradiționale, renovate și transformate în asemenea locuri de poveste, și adevărul e pe zi ce trece, c-apar din ce în ce mai multe astfel de cazări grozave în România 🙂

EN: And if during daytime this place is simply amazing, oh well, during night time, when the lanterns from the forest and from the path with the old trees are lit, everything seems taken out of this world! And those late evenings in front of the fireplace, with a glass of red wine (taken from the mini bar hidden in the wooden floors of each room :D) make us believe we’re living a real Transylvanian count life! And yes, we do admit, Zabola Castle is probably one of the most beautiful traditional guest houses in Romania. Not only the houses and the rooms are amazing, but the entire property, the entire fairy tale atmosphere, the welcoming people, the extremely tasty food, the breakfast, all the activities that the tourists can do here or the bicycles rides. We are extremely happy to see old traditional manors, renovated and transformed in such amazing places, and truth is that there are more and more places like this in Romania 🙂 



RO: A și apropo, pentru cei cărora nu le surâde ideea unei leneveli de weekend excesive, sunt o mulțime de locuri frumoase de văzut în preajmă 🙂 Noi am ales să vedem Lacul Sfânta Ana într-una dintre zile și cetatea Prejmer, în cea de-a doua 🙂

EN: Aaah, and by the way, for those of you that are not completely attracted by the idea of excessive hanging out, there are a lot of beautiful places to see around Zabola 🙂 We have chosen to see Lake Sfanta Ana in one of the days and Prejmer fortified church in the second one 🙂
