RO: Aș putea scrie vrute și nevrute despre orice subiect, am sute (da, sute!) de articole începute pe care le completez periodic cu câte o idee nouă, însă când vine vorba de scris lucruri despre Alexei, despre ce simțim pentru el și despre câtă bucurie ne aduce simplul fapt că îl iubim, efectiv pare imposibil să îmi adun gândurile și să scriu ceva coerent. Pentru că într-un mod extrem de dubios și inexplicabil, deși am vorbi încontinuu despre el (și chiar o facem), când trebuie să punem în scris tot ce simțim, ne blocăm. Ca și cum iubirea unui părinte pentru copilul său nu poate fi așternută în cuvinte. Și chiar așa este! Nimic din ce am putea scrie vreodată nu poate să definească ce simțim cu adevărat, cum ne umple inimile de fericire și bucurie zi de zi, cum îl prețuim nespus de mult, cum ne uităm în ochii lui și zâmbim fără să ne dăm seama, cum râdem cu poftă cum n-am făcut-o de când eram copii mici atunci când face vreo năzbâtie sau ghidușie, cum îl strângem în brațe și cum îl ocrotim când îi este teamă de ceva anume, cum îl privim amândoi când doarme sau cum plângem de absolut fiecare dată când vedem o poză sau un filmuleț mai vechi cu el, de când era mic. Ne e greu uneori și să vorbim despre ceea ce simțim pentru el, darămite să așternem în scris idei clare și coerente. Ce știm cu siguranță este că iubirea pe care o simțim pentru el este un sentiment pe care nu l-am trăit niciodată până acum și care pur și simplu ne copleșește și ne uimește. O mână de om care poate umple cu atâta fericire sufletelor celor din jur!

EN: I could go nineteen to the dozen about any subject, I have hundreds (yup, hundreds!) of draft articles that I periodically update with a new idea, but when it comes to writing about Alexei, about what we feel for him and how much joy and happiness brings us the simple fact that we love him, it just seems impossible to gather my thoughts and write about it coherently. Even though we could talk endlessly about Alexei (and we actually do it all the time), when it comes to writing about our feeling, in a weird and inexplicable way we simply can’t do it. As if the love of a parent for his child cannot be put in written. And it might actually be true! Nothing that we would write could ever define what we truly feel, how he fills our hearts with happiness and joy every single day, how much we cherish him, how we look into his eyes and smile without even noticing, how we’re laughing out loud when he does something naughty, how we hold him in our arms and protect him whenever he’s afraid of something, how we look at him when he sleeps or how we burst into tears every single time we see a picture or a movie with him when he was tiny. It is sometimes hard to even talk about what we feel for him, not to mention to write about this. But what we know for sure is the fact that the love that we feel for him is a feeling that we never experienced so far, that overwhelms us and amazes us. A tiny human that fills our souls with so much happiness! 





RO: Și chiar dacă îi facem poze periodic și păstrăm amintiri frumoase din fiecare etapă a vieții, ne-am dorit să marcăm momentul în care a împlinit un an cu o ședință foto de familie. În care să îi surprindem reacțiile naturale în preajma noastră, zâmbetele dulci, grimasele de supărare și oboseală, privirile năstrușnice când vede o jucărie nouă, curiozitatea când explorează orice spațiu nou, tăvălindu-se pe podea ori pur și simplu cercetând îndeaproape orice lucru nou îi apare  în cale. Lucruri pe care nouă ne este greu să le imortalizăm fără să existe atmosfera aceea de regizat. Si da, știm ce task complicat este acela de a surprinde interacțiunea naturală dintre oameni, făcându-i să se simtă confortabil în fața aparatului foto, de parcă ar fi în intimitatea propriei case. Așa că ne-am bucurat nespus când Andreea Velican ne-a scris și ne-a propus să facem ședință foto “Milk Bath” pentru Alexei. Părea pur și simplu o idee mai diferită de ședință foto, mai relaxată și mai plină de emoție.

EN: And even though we periodically take pictures of Alexei from every stage of his life, we wanted to have a proper family photo shoot to mark this very important moment: the first anniversary. In which to capture his natural reactions around us, his sweet smiles, his grimaces when he’s tired or upset, his naughty looks when he sees a new toy, his curiosity when he explores a new space, crawling on the floor or just carefully examining any new thing that he discovers. Things that are hard for us to capture naturally. And yes, we do know what a complicated task  is to capture the natural interaction between people, making them comfortable in front of the camera, as if they would be in the privacy of their own house. So we were very happy when Andreea Velican wrote us and suggested us to have a “Milk Bath” photo shoot for Alexei. It just seemed a different idea, more relaxed or filled with emotions. 





RO: Am mai avut ceva tentative de a face poze în studio când Alexei avea doar câteva zile, însă din păcate au fost un fiasco total (după cum am spus în repetate rânduri, începuturile noastre în ale bebelușelii au fost mai dificile decât am anticipat). Așa că așteptările noastre de la această ședință foto de 1 an erau extrem de… ajustabile 🙂 Nu am mai făcut greșeala de a spera că nimic nu va putea să ne strice planurile, știm acum cât de imprevizibili pot fi bebelușii, iar unicul lucru pe care îl putem face în astfel de cazuri e să rămânem cu zâmbetul pe buze și să acceptăm ideea de a reprograma ședința foto, într-o zi mai bună și la o oră mai favorabilă. Andreea a fost cea care a propus de fapt acest lucru văzându-l pe Alexei că nu era în cea mai bună formă.

EN: We had some other attempts to make a photo shoot in a studio when Alexei was just few days old which unfortunately was a total fiasco (as we said it several times already, our beginnings in the world of babies was a bit harder than we anticipated). So our expectations related to this photo shoot were extremely… adaptable 🙂 We no longer made the mistake to hope that nothing will ruin our plans, we now know how unpredictable the babies can be, and the only thing that we can do in these cases is to stay positive and accept the idea or rescheduling the photo shoot, in a better day and maybe at a more convenient hour. Andreea was the one that actually suggested this, after seeing that Alexei was not in a great mood for taking pictures. 
RO: Am ajuns la studioul Andreei chiar la ora la care Alexei era obișnuit să doarmă, așa că deja începuse să fie puțin obosit și pe alocuri mârâit. Deși era fascinat de tot ce vedea în jur, curios să vadă și să observe tot, era destul de iritat și își dorea să stea foarte mult timp la sân, în brațele mele. Însă chiar și așa, având tot acest bagaj nefavorabil pentru o ședință foto, Andreea a reușit să surprindă niște cadre adorabile și să ne creeze niște amintiri minunate. Am fost puțin pe fugă, temându-ne să nu îl stresăm prea tare pe Alexei, însă în cele 30 de minute cât a durat scurta ședință foto (mai mult nu am reușit din motive bebelusesti :D) am reușit să facem câteva cadre de familie, toți trei, apoi o serie de fotografii cu Alexei, cu diverse accesorii care să simbolizeze prima sa aniversare, urmând ca apoi să fie highlight-ul ședinței foto, Milk Bath-ul.

EN: We arrived at Andreea’s studio precisely at the hour when Alexei usually has his first nap, so he started to be cranky. Even though he was fascinated by everything he was seeing around him, curious to see and observe everything, he was quite moody and wanted to stay in my arms. But even with all these unpleasant conditions for a photo shoot, Andreea managed to capture some adorable pictures and to create amazing memories. We’ve been on the run, not wanting to stress Alexei too much, but in those 30 minutes (that’s how long the photo shoot lasted due to obvious reasons :D) we took some family pictures, all three of us, then some pictures with Alexei with different accessories that symbolized his first anniversary and in the end the highlight of the photo shoot, the Milk Bath. 

RO: Ce înseamnă mai exact Milk Bath? Ei bine, chiar o baie de lapte 🙂 Într-un lighean micuț cu apă caldă și un pic de lapte praf, Andreea așează cu grijă fie felii de portocală și lămâie, fie diverse flori, în funcție de ce o inspiră mai mult în ziua shooting-ului. Acest tip de cadre îi sunt foarte specifice pentru că prin intermediul lor reușește să surprindă fix relația intimă dintre mamă și bebeluș, cu reacțiile naturale și pline de emoție. Ne-a plăcut nespus de mult ideea și ne-a înduioșat când l-am văzut pe Alexei cum întindea mânuțele spre florile din apă, luându-le cu grijă și inmânându-le nouă. Din păcate însă, nu am reușit să ducem băița la bun sfârșit, Alexei s-a speriat de apa din lighean, și deși stătea cu piciorușele înăuntru, voia să fiu alături de el, să îl țin în brațe și să îl alint – după cum se poate observa de altfel și din poze 🙂 Însă chiar și așa, tot ne-au plăcut cadrele, ni s-au părut sincere și foarte… tipice nouă. Pentru că în final cam așa se desfășoară orice băiță seara 🙂 Mereu temător, căutând brațele mele 🙂

EN: What is this Milk Bath? Well actually it is exactly what is seems: a bath in milk 🙂 Andreea carefully places some slices of orange and lemon or different types of flowers in a small wash bowl with hot water, depending on what inspires her in the day of the shooting. This type of photographs are typical for her and she manages to capture the intimate relationship between the mother and the baby through them, with all their natural reactions, full of emotions. We loved this idea and it simply melted our hearts when we saw Alexei reaching his hands over the bowl to get the flowers from the water and to hand them to us. Unfortunately, we couldn’t do a proper bath as Alexei was afraid of the water from the bowl and even though he was keeping his feet inside, he wanted me close to him, to hold him in my arms and to cuddle him – as it can be seen in the pictures below 🙂 But even so, the photographs were lovely, they were honest and… so typical to us. Because in the end, that’s exactly how a bath looks for us every single evening 🙂 Always fearful, searching my arms 🙂 






RO: Studioul Andreei Velican este desprins dintr-o poveste, decorurile diafane, recuzită diversă și cel mai interesant, garderobă inclusă atât pentru bebeluș (din materiale organice), cât și pentru părinți. În special pentru mamă, sunt o mulțime de rochii fabuloase, din dantelă și voal, în culori neutre, precum și accesorii. Lumina este perfectă pentru poze, Andreea chiar ne-a menționat că a ales locația studioului pentru modul în care pătrunde lumina în casă. Iar modul în care editează fotografiile, în stil fine art, parcă le face și mai intime, și mai prețioase.

EN: Andreea’s Velican studio seems like taken out of a fairy tale, bohemian decorations, different props and included wardrobe for the baby (made from organic fabrics) and for the parents. Especially for the mother there are plenty of fabulous dresses, from lace and veil, in neutral colors, as well as different accessories. The light is perfect for photographs, Andreea actually mentioned us that she has chosen the location of the studio for the way the light enters the house. And then the editing of the photographs, in fine art style, makes them even more intimate and precious. 

RO: E foarte ciudat faptul că deși facem și noi atât de multe poze, fie doar cu Alexei sau cu toți trei, nu avem nicio poză împreună înrămată în apartamentul nostru 🙂 Însă acum, după această ședință foto, ne dorim să înrămăm câteva poze și să le avem zi de zi sub ochii noștri. E incredibil cât de repede trec anii și chiar dacă nu putem face nimic să-i încetinim, putem măcar să construim amintiri frumoase, de care să ne bucurăm în fiecare zi și de care să ne aducem aminte cu drag atunci când puiul nostru nu va mai fi o mână de om. Așa că da, în cutia de lemn unde păstrăm câteva lucrușoare de preț pentru Alexei, pe care i le vom dărui când va împlini 18 ani, vom pune un teanc de fotografii printate, prinse neglijent cu sfoară. Și îi mulțumim Andreei pentru că ne-a ajutat să clădim o amintire prețioasă pentru familia noastră!

EN: It is quite odd that even though we take tons of pictures, either with Alexei or all three of us, we don’t have any picture framed in our apartment 🙂 But now, after this photo shoot, we want to frame several photos and have them daily in front of our eyes. It is incredible how fast the years go by and if we can’t do anything to slow it down, at least we can build beautiful memories, to enjoy them every single day and to remember all these moments when our tiny human will no longer be a baby. So yes, in the wooden box where we keep a couple of precious things for Alexei, which we will give them to him once he will turn 18 years, we will place a pack of printed photographs, neglectfully bonded with string. And we thank Andreea that she helped us to build such a precious memory for our family! 

RO: Dacă v-au plăcut fotografiile noastre de la ședința foto făcută special pentru prima aniversare a lui Alexei, vi-o recomandăm cu mare drag pe Andreea Velican. Nu doar că face niște fotografii senzaționale, însă este și un om bun și blând, pe care puiuții cu siguranță o vor îndrăgi din primul moment. Pentru că până la urmă, este extrem de important ca cei mici să se simtă în largul lor, să se simtă ca… acasă, acolo unde de altfel bebelușii se simț cel mai bine, cel mai în siguranță.
