RO: Cum nu se poate mai previzibil de atâta, ei bine da, am avut o petrecere de botez pentru Alexei cu tematică de… călătorii, ce surpriză “neașteptată” 🙂 Nu suntem nici primii, nici ultimii, și este plin Pinterest-ul de idei fabuloase, care mai de care mai ingenioase, pentru decoruri originale care să pună în valoare tematica petrecerii. Și chiar dacă am avut la dispoziție suficient timp cât să putem pregăti îndeaproape fiecare detaliu dorit, cumva am reușit să lăsăm totul pe ultima sută de metri și să organizăm întreaga petrecere pe repede-înainte. Dar chiar și așa, noi spunem că a ieșit minunat 🙂 Și povestim în detaliu toate pregătirile, poate-poate vor inspira și pe alți călători dornici de astfel de petreceri tematice 🙂

EN: Oh well, as predictable as possible, we organized the baptism party for Alexei having a… travel theme, what an “unexpected” surprise 🙂 We’re not the first ones, definitely not the last ones, and Pinterest is full of fabulous, ingenious ideas and original decors that make the most out of this theme. And even though we had plenty of time to prepare each and every single detail that we wanted, somehow we managed to leave everything on the home stretch and organize the party on fast-forward. But even so, we think it turned out lovely 🙂 And we’ll talk about every detail, maybe some other travelers will be inspired by this kind of theme-party 🙂

RO: Despre ceremonia de botez de la biserică n-am vrea să povestim foarte multe, din păcate a fost un moment foarte stresant pentru bietul bebeluș, care a plâns din primul moment în care a intrat în biserică până la terminarea slujbei. O oră întreagă de plânset disperat, fără oprire, speriat de tot ceea ce se întâmpla în jurul lui. Ceea ce a rezultat bineînțeles, într-o zi foarte stresantă și agitată pentru el. Nu, nu a dormit buștean după botez, așa cum se spune prin popor că se întâmplă, ci dimpotrivă, nu a închis un ochi întreaga zi, fiind extrem de obosit și spre finalul zilei foarte nervos. Nu a vrut să stea în sistem, în cărucior cu atât mai puțin, singurul loc unde se simțea confortabil fiind în brațele mele sau ale lui Andrei-uneori nici acolo. Ne-am simțit amândoi foarte vinovați pentru că l-am chinuit atât de mult, așa că preferăm să nu păstrăm foarte multe amintiri sau poze cu acel moment. Știm că e un subiect delicat și nu vrem să deschidem în niciun fel vreo cutie a Pandorei, respectăm orice fel de tradiție și/sau credințe ori obiceiuri religioase, însă pentru noi, și mai ales pentru Alexei, a fost pur și simplu prea mult.

EN: We don’t want to talk to much about the religious ceremony of the baptism, unfortunately it was very stressful for the poor baby, who cried from the very first moment until the end. A whole hour of desperate endless crying, terrified by everything that was happening around him. Which of course, ended in a very stressful day for him. No, he did not sleep like a top after the baptism, as people might say, on the contrary, he could not sleep at all the entire day, being extremely tired and at the end of the day, very fuzzy. He didn’t want to stay in the baby carrier, not the mention the stroller, the only place where he was feeling comfortable was in our arms – sometimes not even there. We both felt very guilty for puzzling him so much, so we prefer not to keep many memories or pictures from that moment. We know this is a delicate subject and we don’t want to open any Pandora’s box, we respect any kind of tradition or beliefs or religious habits, but for us, and especially for Alexei, was a bit too much.

LOCATIA / LOCATION

RO: Așa că trecem direct la petrecerea în sine, despre care ne e tare drag să vorbim 🙂 În primul rând, am vrut să alegem o locație cât mai boemă, preferabil o grădină cu un decor drăguț, însă pentru că am tot amânat momentul, ne-am trezit la sfârșit de octombrie, când vremea nu prea mai permitea petreceri în aer liber. Așa că a trebuit să ne reorientam. Astfel că am ales o locație închisă, dar cu posibilitate de transformare în caz că vremea era frumoasă 😛 SkyBar Dorobanti are acoperișul acela mobil, care se poate deschide parțial sau complet, în funcție de vreme. Și cu interiorul alb și beculețele atârnate pe tavan am bifat și specificul boem al unei grădini. Nu mai vorbim de apusul superb și luminile aprinse din local, au creat o atmosferă foarte plăcută 🙂 Mâncarea a fost asigurată de cei de la SkyBar, habar n-aveam că pot face mâncăruri atât de bune (pare-se că au și un nou chef, și de la 1 noiembrie și un nou meniu), așa că nu a fost nevoie să ne complicăm cu firme de catering. Ba chiar li s-a părut atât de drăguță tematica de travel că au propus un meniu Around The World, cu mâncăruri specifice din toată lumea: mini burgeri americani, somon norvegian, yakitori de pui japonez, pachețele de primăvară chinezești, antreuri libaneze și italiene.

EN: So we’ll go directly to the party itself, as we really love talking about it 🙂 First of all, we wanted to choose a bohemian location, preferably a garden with nice decorations, but just because we kept postponing the party, we ended up at the end of October, when the weather was no longer suitable for open-air parties. So we had to find another option. So we have chosen an indoor location, that could be transformed in case the weather was good enough 😛 Sky Bar Dorobanti has that retractable ceiling that can be opened, partially or complete, depending on the weather. And it was a really pleasant atmosphere with the white interior and lightnings on the ceiling 🙂 The food was made by the chef from Sky Bar, we had no idea that they can make such a tasty food (it seems that they even have a new chef and starting with 1st of November a new menu), so it was not necessary to complicate things with catering companies. They even thought that our travel theme was so nice that they suggested an Around The World menu with typical foods from all around the world: American mini burgers, Norwegian salmon, Japanese chicken yakitori, Chinese spring rolls, Lebanese and Italian bites.

MUZICA / MUSIC

RO: Muzica a fost chill lounge si întreaga petrecere a fost mai mult un cocktail party decât un botez clasic. Nu am vrut să avem nici DJ, nici formație care să ne cânte la petrecere (nici nu ar fi avut loc de altfel în locația destul de mică), așa că ne-am făcut un playlist cu muzica pe care o doream (pe Spotify, pe Youtube, și pe site-ul loungistas.com de care am aflat chiar înainte de eveniment :D). Ideea inițială era să facem o colecție de melodii specifice câtorva țări, ca să respectăm tematica petrecerii, însă ne-am gândit că ar fi un mix prea divers de ritmuri, care nu se potrivea foarte bine cu locația aleasă. Și sincer, nu am avut nici suficient timp să ne documentăm corespunzător 🙂 Dar păstrăm ideea pentru alte petreceri cu tematică de travel 🙂

EN: Music was a chill lounge and the entire party was rather a cocktail party than a classic baptism party. We did not want to have a DJ, nor a band to sing at the party (even if we wanted, there wasn’t enough place for them at the location), so we made a playlist with the music we wanted (on Spotify, Youtube and loungistas.com website that we found about right before the event :D). The initial idea was to make a collection of songs that were typical for several countries, in order to follow the theme of the party, but we just thought that it might be such a diverse mix that would not match the location. And honestly, we didn’t have too much time to properly make the research 🙂 But we’re keeping this idea for other travel themed parties 🙂

DECORURI / DECORATIONS

RO: Aici ar fi multicele de spus. Am avut foarte multe idei dar puține au fost puse în practică 🙂 În primul rând, ne-am dorit să facem un colțisor travel în local unde invitații să își poată face poze. Și pentru ca găsisem în apartamentul bunicilor un geamantan vechi de când lumea și pământul (dintr-acela de piele, cu catarame mari), am vrut să găsim cât mai multe astfel de valize. Lucru care nu a fost deloc ușor 🙂 Din fericire am dat de cei de la Atelierul de Decoruri, care au tot ce îți poate pofti inimă în materie de decoruri, și-n felul acesta am reușit să facem rost de vreo șapte valize vintage. Apoi, piesa de rezistență a colțului travel a fost panoul de licheni în formă hărții lumii, sprijinit pe un șevalet de fier forjat, de la Fleur-a-Porter. Fetele sunt extrem de creative, tot ce iese din mâinile lor este absolut fabulos, așa că pentru restul decorațiunilor am mers pe mâna lor. Astfel că ne-au făcut rost de candelabre boeme pentru terasa locației, de coșuri cu dovlecei și flori de toamnă, de lalele și avioane de hârtie pentru mese și de tărtăcuțe olandeze albe, ca mărturii pentru invitați.

EN: There are quite a lot to be said here. We had a lot of ideas but not many of them have been completed 🙂 First of all, we wanted to have a travel corner where our guest could take photos. And just because we found an old, vintage suitcase in our grandparents apartment (a leather one, with large buckles), we wanted to have as many as those as possible. Which was not easy at all 🙂 Luckily, we found Atelierul de Decoruri, that has anything one could wish in terms of decors, so there we were, having seven vintage suitcase 🙂 Then, la piece de resistance in the travel corner was the moss board in the shape of the world map, pillared on an iron stand, from Fleur-a-Porter. The girls are extremely creative, everything that they make is absolutely fabulous, so we chose them to help us with the rest of the decorations. So they brought us bohemian chandeliers for the terrace, pumpkin baskets and fall flowers, tulips and paper airplanes for the tables and small, white Dutch pumpinks as presents for the guests. 





RO: Pe jos au pus globuri pământești (luate de la Jumbo :D), post it-uturi cu țările unde am călătorit, iar ca surpriză ne-au făcut un ceas superb construit dintr-o hartă veche și frunze verzi, care indica ora la care s-a născut Alexei 🙂 A, și să nu uităm, la intrare au pus un panou pe care scria Alexei Airlines și hashtagul evenimentului, #alexeibaptismparty 🙂 Și tot fetele de la Fleur-a-Porter ne-au făcut rost și de niște adorabile avionase de lemn, pe care le-am pus pe fiecare masă-se pare ca au fost achiziționate de la un magazinas mic din Rosetti, unde se vând produse de lemn.

EN: On the floor we had world globes (bought from Jumbo :D), post its with the countries where we’ve traveled and as a surprise, they made us a gorgeous clock from an old map and green leaves, that indicated the hour when Alexei was born 🙂 Oh and let’s not forget, at the entrance we had a board where it was written “Alexei Airlines” and also the hashtag of the event #alexeibaptismparty 🙂 Also the girls from Fleur-a-Porter helped us with some adorable wooden airplanes for each table – seems that they have been bought from a small shop in Rosetti Square that sells wooden products. 






RO: Parte din decoruri ar fi trebuit să fie și niște jucării pentru copii, din păcate însă am fost în asemenea haos și agitație cu pregătirile că am uitat complet să le “montăm”. Planul era să punem toate jucăriile pentru copii (plușuri, puzzle-uri și avioane) într-un sac minunat de hârtie de la Adinish, pe care însă l-am folosit ulterior acasă 😀 Luasem și două jucării adorabile de atașament (jucării-păturici) tot de la Adinish, pe care le-am folosit ca decor la locație și de care ulterior s-a îndrăgostit Alexei. De papionul lor molfaibil ca să fim mai exacți 😀

EN: Part of the decorations should have been some toys for the children, but unfortunately we’ve been in such a chaos with all the preparations that we completely forgot to place them in the travel corner. The plan was to have all the toys (teddy bears, puzzles and airplanes) in a gorgeous paper sack from Adinish, but we used it at home afterwards 😀 We also had two adorable baby lovies that we used as decorations (Alexei is totally in love with them – with their chew-able bow ties to be more precise :D) 

INVITATIILE / INVITATIONS 

RO: Pentru invitații recunoaștem că nu am fost foarte originali și am furat o idee de pe Pinterest 🙂 Fiecare invitat a primit un pașaport nominal și o carte de îmbarcare, printate pe un carton reciclat. Ne-au plăcut la nebunie!

EN: We have to admit that we haven’t been so original when it comes to invitations so we stole an idea from Pinterest 🙂 Each guest has a nominal passport and boarding pass, printed on recycled paper. We loved them! 

TRUSOU / BAPTISM KEEPSAKE BOX

RO: Ca să fim sinceri, nu știam ce e acela un trusou până la botez 😀 Iar când am aflat, ne-am luat cu mâinile de cap, pentru că orice găseam de cumpărat era cel puțin odios. Ne-am fi dorit ceva mai simplu, mai puțin pompos, mai puțin kitchos, care să conțină toate elementele necesare botezului. Și întâmplarea a făcut să dăm de cei de la Le Cose, care fac niște superbitati de cutii pictate manual, cu absolut orice tematică posibilă și imposibilă. Cel pentru noi a avut o hartă a lumii și un avion, ca să combine atât partea de travel cât și cea de aviație 🙂

EN: To be honest, we did not know what a baptism keepsake box is until we had to plan our baptism party 😀 And when we did, we were terrified as everything that we found on the market was hideous. We wanted something simpler, less fancy, something nice that would contain all the necessary elements for the baptism. Luckily, we found Le Cose and they make some really gorgeous boxes, hand painted, with any kind of possible theme. The one chosen by us had a world map and an airplane, so it combined both the travel and aviation parts 🙂 

RO: Tot cei de la Le Cose ne-au făcut și o superbă cărticică de gânduri bune, o cutie de lemn, pictată cu același design ca și trusoul, care conține câte o foaie pentru fiecare invitat, unde să îi poată lăsa o amintire scrisă lui Alexei 🙂

EN: Also, the ones from Le Cose made us a gorgeous guestbook, a wooden box, painted in the same design as the keepsake baptism box, that contained pages for each guest to leave a written memory for Alexei 🙂 


RO:  Și de parcă nu erau suficiente toate drăgălășeniile de la ei, am primit un ursulet de pluș ca surpriză de la nașii lui Alexei, o pufoșenie superbă cu un pulover albastru pe care a fost brodat numele bebelușului 🙂

EN: And as if all these cute boxes were not enough, we also got a Teddy Bear as a surprise gift from Alexei’s godparents, a puffy cute bear with a blue sweater that had the baby’s name embroidered on it 🙂 

CANDYBAR

RO: De candy bar uitasem complet. Ne-am trezit abia în ultimele zile că avem nevoie totuși de ceva dulce la eveniment așa că am apelat cu disperare la Alecsandra de la How Eventful, care a reușit să ne facă extrem de rapid un candy bar pentru 50 de persoane, care să respecte tematica. Cake pops-urile în formă de globuri pământești au fost cele mai apreciate 🙂 Cei de la How Eventful se pot ocupa și de decorațiunile florale și de tot ce ține de un eveniment, nu doar de candybar, așa că știm pentru viitor 🙂 În plus față de candy bar-ul de la How Eventful am avut și 120 de gogoși (da, am scris corect, 120!) de la Donut Studio (totuși ca să ne justificăm, erau MINI gogoși :D), fiecare personalizate cu steagurile din diverse țări ale lumii. Au ajuns însă după lăsarea serii, așa că nu am apucat să le pozăm corespunzător, însă ideea a fost tare apreciată de invitați. Iar gogoșile… delicioase!

EN: We totally forgot about the candy bar. We realized just a couple of days before the event that we needed something sweet so we desperately went to Alecsandra from How Eventful who managed to make us a 50 persons candy bar in our theme in no time. The cake pops in the shape of world globes were appreciated the most 🙂 The ones from How Eventful can also make flower decorations and anything needed for an event, not just the candybar, so we’ll know that in the future 🙂 Besides the candy bar from How Eventful we also had 120 donuts (yup, correct, 120!) from  Donut Studio (just to justify ourselves, those were mini donuts :D), each of them personalized with flags from different countries of the world. They got there after sunset, so we couldn’t photograph them properly, but the idea was much appreciated by our guests. And the donuts… simply delicious! 

OUTFITS

RO: Pentru outfitul lui Alexei am vrut ceva cât se poate de simplu și confortabil. Nu țineam morțiș să îl îmbrăcăm în costume tip frac, cum sunt de regulă ținutele de botez în magazinele de copii, așa că am ales un costumaș adorabil de cașmir gri și pufos de la Zara Mini.

EN: For Alexei’s outfit we wanted something very simple and comfortable. We didn’t want a fancy costume, as a regular baptism outfits that can be found in the children stores. So we have chosen an adorable cashmere grey set from Zara Mini. 

RO: Aveam însă și variante de backup în caz că ar fi fost nevoie să fie schimbat, o superbitate de cămașă de in de la In A Box, cu o broderie adorabilă (pe care scria Bucurie :D). Cei de la In A Box au de altfel o grămadă de dragalasenii pentru copii și nu numai, niște cutii absolut geniale, cu produse lucrate manual. Rochiile mele au fost făcute de mine, iar dacă Alexei va fi un băiețel la fel de îngăduitor ca până acum, în primăvară urmează să lansez colecția care le va include 🙂

EN: We also had backup options in case it should have changed Alexei, a gorgeous linen shirt from In A Box, with an adorable embroidery (it was written on it Bucurie – Happiness in Romanian :D). The ones from In A Box have lots of cute objects for children and not only for them, gorgeous boxes with handmade products. My dresses were made by me, and If Alexei will be as tolerant as he was until now, this spring I will launch the collection that will include them 🙂
