 Gluma-i glumă, dar să alegi un scaun auto potrivit, cu tot ce are nevoie un bebeluș pentru a fi pe deplin în siguranță, e subiect de olimpiadă! Și asta pentru că sunt atâtea de luat în calcul, atâtea opțiuni pe piață, gama de prețuri atât de diferită, cu sau fără briz brizuri, cu sau fără tot soiul de funcționalități menite să ușureze părinților manevrarea scaunului. Până la urmă, importantă e siguranța copilului și indiferent de cât de fancy ar fi un scaun auto, acesta ar trebui să fie principalul criteriul atunci când facem alegerea. Și pentru că am petrecut câteva zile bune răsfoind internetul în căutare de informații despre scaune auto, le detaliem mai jos, în speranța că poate va vor fi de folos 🙂 Dacă am omis ceva, orice, let us know, și completăm documentarea 🙂

În primul și primul rând, este reglementat prin lege ca orice copil sub 3 ani să fie transportat în mașină în scaun special omologat. În alte țări europene, legea spune până la 12 ani chiar. Cu alte cuvinte, nu este deloc în regulă să transporți copilul în brațe ori în landoul căruciorului (deși există landouri cu centuri speciale, marketizate ca fiind foarte safe pentru copii-nu sunt :D). În plus, dacă nu e suficient argumentul că riști viața copilului, nerespectarea acestei legi se sancționează cu amendă și puncte.

Buuun, am început cu teoria și legea, apoi continuăm cu eterna discuție despre poziția scaunului auto, disputa cu rear facing vs forward facing. Subiect destul de controversat din câte am văzut, deși pare destul de lesne de înțeles ce variantă ar trebui folosită. Copiii până în 4 ani ar trebui să meargă cu scaunul întors cu spatele direcției de mers (rear facing), aceasta este cea mai sigură poziție pentru copil în caz de impact (scaunul absoarbe șocurile și protejează coloana copilului). Dacă totuși 4 ani par prea mult, măcar 2 ani ar fi musai în această poziție, indiferent că picioarele copilului ating sau nu bancheta mașinii. Este un filmuleț renumit pe youtube care descrie exact de ce rear facing și nu forward facing în primii ani de viață, îl găsiți aici.

 Dacă până aici știam până și noi ce avem de făcut, la întrebarea “ce alegi în primele luni de viață , scoica sau scaunul auto de la 0+ luni?”  n-am mai avut răspuns. Am fi zis că numai și numai scoica e potrivită pentru transportul bebelușilor mici și nou născuților, însă ulterior am aflat că există scaune auto speciale care se potrivesc încă din prima zi de naștere. Dar, dar, dar! Aici e schema. Sub nicio formă nu trebuie ales un scaun auto potrivit până la 12 ani, ci unul care se potrivește categoriei de vârstă 0-4 ani. Chiar dacă și noi ne-am dorit să minimizăm achizițiile bebelusesti pe cât posibil, în ceea ce privește scaunul auto nu ar trebui făcute economii inutile. Astfel că da, oricât de neplăcut sună, ai nevoie de mai multe scaune auto pe parcursul vieții copilului, și da, asta înseamnă o cheltuială destul de mare. Pentru că primisem cadou deja o scoică auto Graco de la niște prieteni (scoica aferentă acestui cărucior), am ales să luăm un scaun auto tot de la Graco,  potrivit vârstei 0-4 ani (modelul acesta de pe site-ul erfi.ro). Scoica e în mașina bunicii, scaunul în mașina noastră 🙂 Scaunul are și insert pentru nou născut (un fel de burețel care ține copilul mai fix în scaun, fără să se bălăngăne în timpul mersului) și ce ne place cel mai mult este faptul că se rotește înspre portieră, astfel că e foarte ușor de scos/pus copilul în scaun. De fapt și de drept se rotește 360 grade, de unde vine și denumirea de Turn2Reach. Bineînțeles, nu este sub nicio formă recomandat să fie întors către pasagerul din spate, funcționalitatea aceasta nu trebuie folosită decât pentru manevrarea copilului, nicidecum pentru jucat în timpul mersului. Și mai mult decât atât, ca să se evite orice fel de greșeală de montare, există tot felul de indicatori care îți marchează cu verde dacă ai montat corect scaunul în bază sau dacă centurile de pe copil sunt fixate așa cum trebuie.

Și în final, ultima noastră dilemă a fost legată de sistemul de prindere a scaunului în bancheta mașinii. Există două tipuri de prindere: isofix și în centuri, ambele sunt sigure câte vreme sunt folosite corect. Baza isofix e într-adevăr mai ușor de folosit, sistemul în centuri puțin mai complicat, însă ambele sunt la fel de ok. Scoica pe care o avem de la Graco se prinde în centuri, scaunul în bază isofix. All good în ambele cazuri. După cum spuneam mai sus, noi am ales scaunul de pe siteul erfi.ro și experiența noastră cu ei a fost una foarte plăcută, incluzând consultanță în magazin și ajutor la montarea în mașină.

Jokes aside, choosing the right car seat, with everything that a baby needs in order to be entirely safe, is quite a challenge! And that’s because there are so many things to be taken in consideration, so many options on the market, such a different range of prices, with or without accessories, with or without all kind of functionalities that are meant to make handling of the car seat easier. In the end, safety is the most important thing and no matter how fancy a car seat might be, safety should be the main criteria when making the decision. And because we’ve spent a couple of days browsing on the internet in search of information regarding the car seats, we’ll detail all of them below, hoping that they might help you J If we missed something, anything, just let us know, and we’ll update our research  🙂 

First of all, it is required by law that any child below 3 years to be transported in the car only in a special car seat. In other European countries the requirement is for 12 years. In other words, it is not safe at all to transport the baby in your arms or in the stroller bassinet (there are some special ones with belts and people say that they are perfectly safe – well they’re not :D). In addition, if it is not enough the fact that one can risk the life of his own child, not following this rule is fined.

Ok, so we’ve started with the theory and the law, and we will now continue with the eternal discussion about the position of the car seat, rear facing vs forward facing. This is quite a debatable subject from what we’ve seen, even though for us it seems obvious what position should be chosen. Children below 4 years should be transported with the chair in rear facing position, this is the safest for the child in case of impact (the chair absorbs the shock and protects the backbone of the child). If four years seems too much, at least 2 years are indicated in this position, no matter if the child’s feet reach the bench of the car or not. So far we knew the theory and what we have to do, but when someone asked us “what to choose, the car seat for a 3 in 1 stroller system or the specialized 0+ months car seat?” we did not know what to answer. We would normally say that the car seat from the 3 in 1 system would be the most appropriate but then we found out that there are special car seats that can be used from the first day of life. But, but, but! There’s the catch! We should never use a 0 to 12 years car seat, but one that fits the 0-4 years category. Even if we also wanted to minimize all the baby acquisitions, in what regards the car seat we should never try to tighten the purse string. So, no matter how unpleasant it might sound, you need more car seats during the baby’s lifetime. And yup, that means quite a big expense. And because we already received from some friends a Graco small car seat (from the 3 in 1 stroller systems – this one), we have chosen to use a specialized car seat from Graco, suitable for 0-4 years (this model from the erfi.ro website). One is in grandma’s car, the other one in our car J The chair has a special insert for newborns (a kind of sponge that keeps the child fixed in the chair, without flapping while driving, and what we love the most about it is the fact that it can rotate towards the door, so it is very easy to take the baby out of the car. Actually, it rotates 360 degrees, and that’s where the naming Turn2Reach has come from. Of course, it is not recommended to be rotate towards the passenger staying on the back seat, this functionality should only be used to maneuver the baby, not for playing while driving. And even more than that, in order to avoid any kind of mistake on mounting the chair, there are several indicators that show if the chair is correctly mounted or If the belts are set where they have to be.

And finally, our last dilemma was related to the anchoring system used for the chair. There are two types of attachments: isofix and the one using some special belts. Both of them are equally safe as long as they are used correctly. Isofix basis might be easier to use, the belts are a bit more complicated, but both of them are ok. The car seat from the stroller uses the belts system, the 0-4 years car seat uses the isofix basis. All good in both cases. As we said, we have chosen the 0-4 years car seat from erfi.ro website and we had a very pleasant experience, including all the advices and help during mounting the chair in the car.
